The complainant, Evangeline Krystal Anola Rivera, a 32-year-old resident of Purok 7, Barangay Trading Boulevard filed the complaint on Wednesday before the San Pedro Police Station.

Rivera complained that Jhoanna Marrie Beltran, 36, a resident of Washington St. in downtown Davao, had offered an overseas job but demanded money three times to defray the alleged expenses for medical and airline ticket.

The last amount of P22,529 for the supposed plane ticket got Rivera suspicious and refused to hand it, according to the San Pedro Police Station in its blotter.

Rivera told police that their contact began on December 17 when Beltran went to her house to talk about the overseas job. Rivera said she made the initial payment of P5,500 the following day for her medical expenses.

Beltran reportedly asked for another P6,500 for her visa which she gave.

On the third day, Rivera became suspicious after the woman asked her again to give P22,529 for her plane ticket.

Rivera said she discovered that Beltran was not connected with any recruitment agency prompting her to file the complaint. (
