Government sets training on how to handle PWDs

DAVAO CITY- A government welfare agency and the Department of Tourism (DOT) team up to hold a seminar on how to handle persons with disabilities in the tourism industry.

The National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) and the Department of Tourism (DOT)  will hold a one day seminar on October 14 at the Marco Polo Davao.

An NCDA statement sent to news organizations said the seminar “intends to primarily come up with policy recommendations/ measures that would create an inclusive barrier-free and rights-based society for PWDs.”

“The activity also aims to orient tourism service providers on how to properly deal with tourists with disabilities when they visit their hotel/resorts.”

“The participants will be urged to identify major issues related to accessible tourism through orientation on disability rights perspectives including the existing local and international laws and mandates protecting the rights of PWDs.”

Government said the training will try to promote a tourism environment friendly for PWDs. (
