CLAIM: In June 3, Twitter account @NewGovOrgABF or Angat Buhay New Government posted a quote card with the face of outgoing Vice President Leni Robredo in the lower right side and in the middle are logos of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), the Angat Buhay Alliance, and the New People’s Army (NPA).
The quote read:
Kasama ang matatapang at magigiting na grupo ng Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) at New People’s Army (NPA). Sila ang ating katuwang sa paglagay ng New Government para Angat Buhay Lahat.
The account holder wrote the caption “Official announcement of @VPPilipinas Vice President Leni Robredo” with the following hashtags: angatbuhay, AngatBuhayNGO, AngatBuhayLahat, newgovorgabf, and AngatBuhayAlliance. It has 38 quote tweets, 3 retweets, and 2 likes.
In its profile, @NewGovOrgABF described itself as an organization designed to overthrow the Marcos administration and introduce a New Government. It joined the social networking site in January 2020 with a location in Quezon City.
On May 13, Robredo announced that Angat Buhay will be launched by July 1 as a non-government organization (NGO). The vision in formally organizing the program is to create the “largest volunteer network in the history of the country.”
Angat Buhay is the flagship project of the 14th vice president which aims to fight poverty. It has partnered with private companies and other NGOs to help fund its projects, given the limited resources of her office.
It was launched in October 2016 with the aim to address the needs of those in the “laylayan” (fringes) in six areas: food security and nutrition; housing and resettlement; public education; rural development; universal healthcare; and women empowerment.
As of December 2021, it has worked with 372 organizations, mobilized some P520 million worth of resources that benefitted 321,001 families and 305,223 individuals in 223 communities.
Last June 2, Robredo’s Facebook page issued an advisory that the Angat Buhay NGO is in the process of being set up.
The CPP, meanwhile, has denied forging any agreement with any candidate or political party running in the national elections. It also belied the claim that it talked to any presidential candidate about the formation of a coalition government in a statement released last March 12.
The Robredo camp, on the other hand, has denounced the efforts linking her to the CPP.
“I will not form an alliance with such people or those who believe in them. My priority is to work in a peaceful way for the dignity of every person, for the empowered and responsible exercise of freedoms, and fairness,” she said in a press conference in Bulacan last March 14.
That same day, Robredo also denied that Angat Buhay New Government’s Twitter account is connected to her office and that any post published by the said account only aims to deceive the people and spread disinformation. (davaotoday.com)
