Philippines: Five partylist groups endorse Roco, Coseteng

May. 10, 2007

MANILA — Partylist frontrunners Bayan Muna, Anakpawis and Gabriela, as well as
Suara Bangsamoro and Kabataan, hereby endorse Mrs. Sonia Roco and
former Sen. Nikki Coseteng in the 2007 elections.

Mrs. Roco has spoken strongly against extrajudicial killings,
political repression and human rights violations. She seeks positive
reforms in the educational system and the upgrading of the health care
system. She is an ally in the fight against graft and corruption. She
has vowed to pursue the legislative and political advocacies of the
late former Sen. Raul Roco.

Former Sen. Coseteng has long been an ally of people’s organizations,
especially Gabriela, on various women’s issues. She was with us in
campaigning for the dismantling of the US bases and against the
ratification of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade. She is a
strong advocate of small and medium-scale Filipino entrepreneurs,
seeking protections for them against the deluge of big foreign
investors favored by government.

Coseteng and Roco are worthy additions to the eight candidates we have
endorsed earlier, namely, Alan Cayetano, Chiz Escudero, Manny Villar,
Loren Legarda, Koko Pimentel and Ralph Recto, Joker Arroyo, Kiko

Electing Coseteng, Roco and Legarda will raise the number of competent
and patriotic women-senators.

On May 14, let us vote for senatorial candidates who are people’s
champions against political slays, advocates of pro-people reforms,
and have a track record of support for the people’s movement for

Rep. Satur Ocampo
Bayan Muna

Rep. Crispin Beltran

Rep. Liza Maza

Zaynab Ampatuan
Suara Bangsamoro

Raymond Palatino
