DAVAO CITY—The “balangay”, a replica of the sailboat used by Filipino forefathers traveling across Southeast Asian islands recently revisited the shores of Davao region.
After docking at Sta. Ana Port, the sailboat maneuvered by Art Valdez sailed on to the Holcim Philippines Davao Plant in Panacan.
The team previously came from Kaputian Beach, Samal Island, where they were welcomed by the local government unit.
While in Samal, Valdez and his team were awakened by too much shaking of the boat caused by strong winds and big waves.
“We had to wake up everyone to move the Balangays to a safer shelter adjacent the public park.” wrote Valdez in his blog.
The team also visited Digos, Davao del Sur where they docked at a fishing village and made a presentation at the Municipal Hall last April 7. (PIA)
