Jun. 08, 2009

Davao City A network of young leaders and entrepreneurs are seeking out more entries from Davao and Mindanao for the nationwide Creative Young Entrepreneur Award (CYEA).

The Junior Chamber International Philippines, the group that hosts the CYEA in the last three years, opens its award this year to creative men and women whose novel ideas turned their businesses into a success.

(The Creative Young Entrepreneur Award) seeks to recognize young Filipino entrepreneurs for their innovation and fresh ideas, said Ana Pista, the 2009 JCI CYEA chairperson.

Pista was in Davao City in May to invite more young entrepreneurs in Mindanao to join. She said she had seen a lot of potentials among young entrepreneurs in the island.

The competition places a high value on the entrepreneurs imagination and creativity in starting up a business. It also looks into the entrepreneurs creativity in product development, service development, or in how he approaches the market.

How they tackled something in a fresh way to drive their businesses up using their talent, imagination and creativity, Pista said.

The competition is open to all young entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 40. Anyone can nominate an entrepreneur to the contest. Only eight Mindanao entrepreneurs joined the contest last year thats why the group wants to attract more entries.

Last years top winners included Ink Magnate, the company that founded Ink for Less; Rizza Industrial Sales and Marine Services, a marine service provider; and Mang Inasal, a chicken restaurant.

All nominations must be submitted using the online nomination form on JCI website at Deadline for submission of entries is on June 31, 2009.
