TAGUM CITY—Education officials, faculty and staff and other volunteer groups from Maniki Central Elementary School in Kapalong town and Sto. Tomas Central Elementary School at Sto. Tomas town made a massive makeover of their schools in time for the Palarong Pambansa 2015.
The two schools will host delegates from Caraga and Mimaropa regions.
Josephine L. Fadul, schools division superintendent of DepEd Division of Davao del Norte told Davao Today that all necessary preparations are being conducted insofar as the involvement of DepEd in the upcoming Palaro.
“Our preparations are now in full-swing because we want to give and show our guests the best accommodation that we could offer to them,” says Fadul.
Fadul said that “renovations and beautifications of all identified public schools are being done to provide billeting quarters.”
In Sto. Tomas town, concrete fence walls of Sto. Tomas Central Elementary School were painted in mint green color; flaglets of various colors were also hung outside the school’s fence. The school’s open stage and all classrooms were decorated.
In Kapalong town, the covered court of Maniki Central Elementary School was painted colourfully. Buntings, welcome streamers and colourful flaglets were hung in various areas of the school and all classrooms were repainted, refurbished and decorated.
“We are expecting them anytime soon because some of the delegates will leave their region ahead to check their billeting quarters. I hope they will enjoy their stay in our school,” says Cherie Lou Suarez Alido, a public school teacher from San Isidro Elementary School.
Alido added that minor refurbishment and upgrading of the schools’s lodging facilities were conducted to ensure that all delegates will be comfortable during their stay in Sto. Tomas Central Elementary School.
As of Monday, armed with paint brushes, gardening and construction tools, public school teachers and other stakeholders spent their summer days in their assigned schools in what they described as the biggest challenge—to show the best hospitability, the “Davao Norte Way.”
